Hi! My name is Tara McGregor. I run Children Inspired by Yoga in Edinburgh. I teach classes and am usually the first port of call for enquiries and booking sessions for your setting. I find it very rewarding to collaborate with teachers in schools and nurseries, engaging children and young people to progress their physical skills, their confidence and introduce strategies for mental wellbeing. I am fully qualified to teach Tatty Bumpkin yoga from nursery age up to Primary 7 – both mainstream and for those with additional needs – as well as Baby Bumpkin yoga for 0 to 2 year olds. I am currently qualifying to teach up to 16 year olds, so watch this space for classes for older children!
Claire McKinley works with me to deliver classes across Edinburgh. We are fully insured and we are members of the PVG scheme in relation to working with children.
Our classes are usually in nurseries and schools (more information here).
We can sometimes fit in private classes for groups of friends – if you would like to book sessions for yourself and some friends at home then do please get in touch firstname.lastname@example.org.
Claire is fully qualified to teach Tatty Bumpkin yoga to up to 7 year olds (Primary 2/3) and to teach Baby Bumpkin yoga for 0 – 2yrs olds. “Hi! I hold a NC and HNC in childcare and Education and SVQ 4 in Social services (children and young people). I have over 15 years nursery experience. I have a strong passion for Health and Well-being of children. I came across Tatty Bumpkin when my son started classes at the age of 3 (he is 8 now). He came home every day telling me the story and showing me the poses. He got so much out of the classes and had great fun. I am so happy to share this fun with other children.”
The stories are so interesting and engaging for the children and they don't realise they are doing yoga moves...my daughter was doing and thinking things here that she wasn't doing anywhere else. The sessions are huge fun and really enjoyable
Mother of 3 year old
We have been using Tatty Bumpkin classes for our 2 - 3yr olds in nursery. The children connected with Tara straight away and often ask when Tatty is coming...The poses are easy for the children and develop their physical skills as well as showing them different ways to use their bodies.
nursery manager, Edinburgh
My four year old son absolutely loved it - as soon as the session was over, he couldn't wait for the next one and asked when it would be!
Every week was an adventure in movement and imagination. Children learned through their whole bodies and all of their senses. The yoga poses were embedded naturally into a story format with reference to the children's own experiences, familiar characters from traditional stories, seasons and nature. Each child was sensitively involved in the session with resources that promoted and enhanced the experience. The sessions promoted the capacities, experiences and outcomes that Curriculum for Excellence can deliver.
