Classes for children 2 years and over – Tatty Bumpkin
Tatty Bumpkin classes are fun, yoga-inspired stories designed to encourage movement and enhance development. The sessions focus on giving a firm foundation for social, emotional and physical confidence – all required for future happiness and success. Each session follows an adventure, using stories, music, props and simple yoga moves based around the character doll Tatty Bumpkin.
Tatty Bumpkin classes really do help children become happy and confident – emotionally, socially and physically, which is the foundation for a happy and successful future. Success can be measured by ‘well being’ – the ultimate goal of all human endeavour, is that we feel good about ourselves and the people around us, and do things in our lives which give us a sense of meaning and value. Tatty Bumpkin will help you and your children understand what this means and how to achieve it.
All our classes are aligned to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, and have been developed by Paediatric Physiotherapists, Yoga teachers and educationalists, to give the children a creative, well rounded, developmental and fun story session.
The Tatty Bumpkin training is accredited by CACHE (Council for Awards in Children’s Care, Health and Education).
About the classes
As a parent /carer you are actively encouraged to join in the class as this helps give the children confidence to try new things and join in with the adventure.
The sessions are run in 6 or 7 week terms aligned with the school year, they are progressive and adapted to the children’s ability, but are flexible to allow new children to join at any time.
The progressive programme has a different developmental focus each week, whether it is Balance, Dynamic Movement, Music & Communication or Feelings & People, using a story to make it meaningful and fun for the children. There are 7 stories in each term and each term is a colour within the rainbow.
There are many benefits of Tatty Bumpkin classes, which include:
- increasing strength, balance & co-ordination which lay the foundations for other sporting activities, as well as for more complex hand skills like writing and dressing
- improving concentration and attention skills to aid learning, through a class with a mixture of fast and slow paced activities combined with relaxation
- developing communication and social skills to aid confidence, through a warm and supportive class, which nurtures confidence and self-esteem, encouraging children to put forward their own ideas
- enhancing creativity through the use of our own specially developed props, music and unique content to really spark the children’s imagination and give them confidence to enjoy their creativity
